cubistic treescape graphite pencil drawing

Beek – 11-06-19

Near Mount Devil

This drawing complements the previous Beek (30-05-19) drawing in such respect that in this one the view is directed to the extension of the path I was walking on. Mount Devil (Duivelsberg) is to the left at the other side of the meadows in the front. It is one of my favorite spots in the surroundings of Nijmegen, where I come from.

Roundism Flow

The challenge was to capture the leafy shadows on the path that seemed entwined with the waving grasses next to it. I also wanted to capture the flow of the grasses corresponding to the waving tree branches. This entwining and flow I wanted to capture in my roundism style. This way my feel with regard to the waving grass an leafs came to the right expression. Through that I consider this a rather expressionist drawing.
