Cubistic nude graphite pencil drawing

Nude – 07-10-15 (sold)

Round and Straight

Nude – 25-09-15 was very curvy, showing only round shapes and as a contrast I made this one cubistic and straight. Besides that, I liked the model being thin so I could easily detect cubistic planes. It almost reminds me to Egon Schiele’s depiction of nudes. A later drawing ‘Nude – 12-09-15’ contrasts this effort as to the voluptuous shape of the model’s body but in straight lines and plains nevertheless.

Bodyscape

This is a typical bodyscape with the main focus on the thorax. The diagonal upper leg / thy and horizontal upper arm serve as pointers towards the mid-section: the rib cage and breasts. I particularly liked the diagonally arranged ribs that contrast the thy in a 90 degree angle.

Tonality

The strong dark and light play (chiaroscuro or clairobscur) are conducive to the skinny, almost eery look of the model. I always have liked buxom beauties but I fancy the skinny ones as well.
