This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism (Tribute to Anita Ekberg) – 22-06-23’ is not my first homage to her.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 20-01-23’ is the first one of its kind this year. After ‘Venus Lamenting – 13-01-23’ I wanted to do a similar one. However, it turned out to become something completely different.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 30-12-22’ is the last one of this year. After Neo Deco – 25-12-22 I wanted to end this year in the style that brought me success the last decade.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 22-12-22’ follows after ‘Neo Deco – 10-12-22’. Usually I make one drawing per week but my mind was occupied with an oil in progress.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 28-10-22’ follows my cubist interpretation of Louise Brooks’ facial features. The latter was done in colored pencil. However, I had a good reason to do this one in matt graphite only.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 17-08-22’ follows its angular version of two days ago. Surely Walter Bird’s reference photograph was good enough to draw two versions from it.
And now for something completely different: Roundism again. After ‘Art Deco Nude – 11-08-22’ it was time to unleash my Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite Matt pencils on Roundism.
Once in a while I get that itchy feeling again that makes me want to turn to roundism. The last one by that title I made half a year ago.
Today I returned to roundism again. Did you ever have the feeling that you had to burn all bridges? Something you could spend the rest of your life doing felt familiar and safe but nevertheless… Last year I did my last roundism drawing. After the completion I instinctively thought that was one final mark and then stop. Well, now I am not so sure anymore.
On my walks I came across Estate ‘Oosterbeek’ again. I was in the mood to do another landscape after my last one of Buitengoed Leeuwenbergh. After all, Spring has arrived and South Holland is covered in sunlight. Let’s hope the sun will bring relief in this cursed pandemic.
