This pastel drawing ‘Model Session – 23-01-24’ is the first I drew live since a long time.
Last night I had a model session with Julia. Sometimes you come across a woman you immediately fall in love with.
This reclining nude is completed two days after the last model session I held at my studio. Being the first drawing I completed after July’s session means last month’s drawing has not been completed yet. This one was relatively easy though.
Together with a student I had a lovely model session at the Binckhorst in The Hague. She invited me to come to her studio because she had a friend who wanted to sit for us. Actually the same sofa was used as for the previous model session.
After my sketch of Louise Brooks – 10-10-20 I wanted to do more in my hatched strokes style. Yesterday’s model session offered me the opportunity again to draw with a live model in front of my eyes.
In 2013 I started this clairobscur lit nude and tucked it in one of pastel maps, only to forget about it for years and years.
One of those days. Sold something around midnight, did my regular things like website maintenance, teaching, eating and returning to my work in progress. Bullocks! Last day of the year and completed a work in progress I started during a live session with my regular model. With just two simple LED reading lamps I got the atmosphere right
Last Thursday 21th of November I had my regular model over again in my studio and it was a good session. I placed two led light sources next to her, creating a nice razor light over her body.
Model sketching time again. My mind was occupied with many other projects but live model sketching always has priority. Whereas skecthing often is called the primary process, live model sketching I consider to be primus inter pares.
