Free Gouda! – 25-08-18
I was walking on a Sunday afternoon, the last very hot one of this summer and the central square was deserted. No one was there because of the dying heat and I saw naked women dancing on it.
Sans titre – 01-05-18
This is the first art statement on a drawing I wrote before completing it.
Sans titre – 21-04-18
When I saw a picture of a young Catherine Deneuve I immediately saw the potential for my roundism style.
Royal estate ‘De Horsten’ – 02-04-18
A pastel of a treescape at Royal estate ‘De Horsten’ at Wassenaar, Netherlands. This one I did last Saturday for a group of pastel students and limited myself to appromixately 2 hours, synchronizing to the time span of the pastel workshop, in order for them to relate to a quick build-up without throwing too much details like leaves and branches.
Sans titre – 30-03-18
Following my previous sans titre drawing this one shows more clairobscur (chiaroscuro), giving it a rather impressionistic look.
Sans titre – 26-03-18 (sold)
Seeing a photo of 1930s moviestar Myrna Loy reminded me of why I like this kind of photography so much.
Sans titre – 05-01-18 (sold)
A new one in the sans titre series depicting Gone with the Wind actress Vivian Leigh. I like her cool looking appearnce hiding a turmoil of complex emotions, wandering from depression, alcoholism to briljant actorship and back, ending in her death by tuberculosis.
Wouter – 08-11-17 (sold)
A commissioned piece done in an impressionistic style with lots of clairobscur. I had to come up with a solution for depicting his pale skin hues and still rendering them too unsaturated.
Marijke Akkers-Kersten – 06-11-17 (sold)
Some time ago my mother and I visited the Mauritshuis at The Hague, Netherlands, in order to show the neighbor’s girl around all the goodies of Vermeer and Rembrandt.
