Natalie Wood

One of the ‘sans titre’ series I made. This one depicts America actress and celebrity Natalie Wood put in the style of cubism and roundism. It was because I had my new set of Koh-I-Noor colored leads and decided to employ them. Furthermore, it was a very long time ago I used colored pencils anyway and this one set the mark for more to come. In 2009, on express demand, I made another drawing Mira (2009) with these colours.

Black, White and Red

After some considerations I decided to keep a realistic feel to Natalie’s face while drawing some circular patterns around her head in my roundism style. From a personal point of view I like this one because of its black, white and red rhythyms.

Saturational Balance

Influenced by The Blaue Reiter expressionists like Franz Marc and August Macke I came to realize there has to be balance between saturated and unsaturated colors. In the past I used saturated colors in abundancy and that is something I am more careful about nowadays. White and black being the unsaturated pigments and red the saturated one, play a wonderful saturational waltz in this one.
