A study left ‘open’ quite a bit. Perhaps I going to do more like these one day because it just came into existence two hours before my students’s class on a Wednesday night. I always go to my studio a couple of hours earlier where I spend my time sketching and working out ideas. Sometimes the spontaneous ones are the best. It was sold quickly to a collector from Canada.
What to Call This Style?
I am not sure whether this is more expressionist or cubist. That is not really up to me anyway but more to art historians. Cross-over styles keep on haunting my mind. The word ‘study’ indicates that there is more to come and I prepare for a canvas to process this one into oil. It will be difficult to emulate the refined hatched pastel strokes.
