Bettie Page Once Again

At last I was able to return to Bettie Page once more because I became master of my time again after the completion of a commision ‘Conquering the Stelvio – 24-08-17 (sold)’. Commissions are fun but nothing beats the liberty of creating your own work. Bettie’s body was so slender that it enables me to exploit my style of roundism every time without pondering overa new way of rendering.

Openess

In this Bettie drawing I tried to keep forms open as much as possible. In this respect it resembles my endeavours in my graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – Bettie Page – 31-01-15’. Nonetheless this one is also different and the plains show more gradients. The drawing has turned out to become considerably abstract except for the face because I needed the recognition.

Swan

Next to this the extended lines beyond the forms create new forms, even animals! Moreover, it is because her body was so slender and enables me to exploit my style of roundism to the max as well as discovering for example a swan in her laps. In the next Bettie drawing I put this kind of surrealism aside and focused on geometrics once more.
