In this one in the Roundism series I started hatching up the paper with diagonal strokes like always when the motif is very dark. I did not wanted to rub them out though like I am use. Instead I quite like the hatched impression. Maybe it is because it reminds me to the beginning of my cubist works like in ‘Round Cubism – 14-08-14’.Not a coincidence that it is the same date only 6 years ago? Eery!
My regular model is a slender one with a rather velvet skin texture and she distributes these wonderful shines I tried to capture. That is why these hatched strokes work wonderfully as to the expression I wanted to convey. Her face is only slightly visible as I focused on some high lights.
The contour delineations are slightly cubist though round in order to prevent a rather photographic image. After all, who needs just another copied picture that dwell over all social media on the internet these days. What message do they try to convey: hollowness?
