Roundism – 19-07-16 (sold)

Roundism

Part of the roundism series and a little less abstract than the previous drawing ‘Roundism – 05-07-16’. I like doing this one because of the flow of light reflections breaking through the water which I turned into a kind of water waves. The original photo did not show them completely clear though and I had to come up with a nifty solution that added something of value to the scene. Beside that the roundish body shapes called for resonance in the surrounding areas.

Free Floating

The result is an enhancement of the floating feel, also contributed by the diagonal lower legs, supporting movement throughout the drawing. The floating feel I also employed in the angle her pinky makes just as is the case with the round shape in the sole of her right foot. The general concept was ‘flow’ anyway when I made this one.

Tonality

The original photo showed a female body that was integrated with the water from a tonal point of view. However, I found this too vague and decided to crank up the tonal bandwith a little bit in order to get a stronger image. I made the waves lighter an darker alternately and thus a kind of shimmering effect was created. I sold it quickly to a Californian collector.
