Roundism – 26-05-17 (sold)

A Dive Back

After the completion of my last graphite pencil drawing ‘Ascenscion – 24-05-17’ I wanted to dive right back in roundism again. Sometimes I look back and see it is a crazy patchwork of diffent styles and it makes me smile. In this respect there are no flies on me.

No End to Perfection

During my lessons as a teacher I tell my students there is no end to perfection. Therefor no one can tell when an art work is finished. In general the artist sets the rules. On the other hand what are rules like time, but rules based upon other rules. When you are on the front of everything what rules should an artist create for him or herself or abide to? Are they sound enough to be acknowledged by others? This is the essence of my art. In this particular drawing I employed this principle by curves heading for straight vertical or horizontal lines and approaching them, never touching them, ending in a singularity. Can I be more explanatory on the subject?

Openess

Next to the aforedescribed principle I wanted to crank up the abstraction level. I strived for opening up the body form and render it almost unrecognizable. The thing is that such is caused by both the abstraction as well as lack of distinction between positive and negative forms.
