Roundism | Kind of Green – 2026-08-31

Blueish Green

This pastel pencil drawing ‘Roundism | Kind of Green – 2025-08-31’ nods to Miles Davis’ album and advances my color use. Last one I like a lot and now it was time to take a step further. I figured, if I could use blue, why not turquoise green. Almost viridian but I leave it up to you. Blueish green, at least that what was on my mind. The direct cause was an inspirational source by means of an old photograph, taken by John Everard. The pose was great and the lighting impressive – exactly to my fancy. However, in the background there was this column-like structure, almost cancelling out the model. Therefore, I neglected it. The background was meant for this greenish color anyway.

Back to Roudism and in Green

The body forms I abstracted in my typical style, which I would like to rename back to ‘roundism’. That is the style people still know best. Neo Deco is a good name but I don’t want to be associated with a retro style forever. People will see vintage aspects in my work anyway and roundism, concise as it is, will carry that weight further. It’s a defiant nickname, as explained before, which I will keep on carrying proudly. Picasso must have agreed for sure. Furthermore, I was looking at this Blue Train album by John Coltrane once more. His appearance is also in blue and not in black and white, set off against a blue background. That is why I also used some green in the positive form (the model) as well. Not too much but slight hints of green. See what that might bring me. What do you think?
