I was into cartoons for years and this one is no exception. In 1978 I made a copy of this one.
Still life with fruit (1978)
An early attempt to draw realistic motifs. I can see that all depth still is lacking and I cannot remember when I saw tonal values for the first time.
Let’s do it this way, not that way (1979)
A cartoonesque drawing with which I won the first price of a competition organized by Milieudefensie Nijmegen.
Tempo (1980)
An early attempt to depict realism, using a bag of paper handkerchief (Tempo). I remember the struggle, dragging myself from the 1970s and trying to get rid of the child in me and my drawings.

An early attempt to draw realistic motifs. I remember the struggling and I was pissed off because I couldn’t get the 3d optical illusion right.
Floortje (1975 – 1980)
An early attempt to draw in a live session. Floortje was the first dog I got as a child and she was everything to me.
