Model session 2 @ Rotterdam – 19-11-17

cubistic nude pastel dawing

Short positions at live model sketching took me back to reinvent my way rendering human bodies and together with my new found Pastelmat by Clairefontaine I was able to experiment with new ways.

Wouter – 08-11-17 (sold)

Impressionistic portrait pastel drawing

A commissioned piece done in an impressionistic style with lots of clairobscur. I had to come up with a solution for depicting his pale skin hues and still rendering them too unsaturated.

Marijke Akkers-Kersten – 06-11-17 (sold)

Cubistic portrait graphite pencil drawing

Some time ago my mother and I visited the Mauritshuis at The Hague, Netherlands, in order to show the neighbor’s girl around all the goodies of Vermeer and Rembrandt.

Dordrecht – 07-12-17

cubistic cityscape graphite pencil drawing

A couple of weeks back I was going to the Jongkind exhibition at the Dordrechtse Museum at Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands and I decided to go on a short detour across the city which I visit almost two decades ago for the last time.

Nieuwe Veenmolen – 19-10-17

cubistic landscape graphite pencil drawing

A drawing of the ‘Nieuwe Veenmolen’ (MIll ‘Nieuwe Veen’) at The Hague, a place around the corner from where I live.

Nude – 01-10-17

cubistic nude colored pencil drawing

A rather loose cubistic sketch done with colour pencils. For the 4th time in a row I used the same (indian) model. Her skin allows me to use a lot of yellow which I counterbalanced with edgy purple planes.

Model – 18-09-17

impressionistic nude pastel drawing

A 5 min. sketch I made yesterday at a session at Rotterdam. Fun to do short positions again.

Maassluis – 12-09-17

cubistic harbour graphite pencil drawing

This depiction of Maassluis, a town near Rotterdam towards the North Sea, is somehow impressionism meets roundism.

Bettie Page – 01-09-17 (sold)

Cubistic nude graphite pencil drawing

This time I made Bettie somehow rectangular, circular and squareish, matching her perfect female forms to simplifyed geometric shapes, not loosing a hint of impressionistic feel of realism.
