The return of the dutch elephants (@ Gouda) – 12-07-17 (sold)

Elephants

My last dutch elephants drawing was a year back and I wanted to return to the theme. Some time ago I saw a cloud that perfectly looked like a baby elephant. I got the idea to draw the canal realistically and have it transcend into a more abstract mid-section. For that matter the trees I drew in my roundism style. It turned into a surrealistic scene also containing elements of impressionism, realism, cubism and roundism.

Gouda

If you ever will come to visit Gouda the actual spot is at The Westhaven. There is a beautiful canal that you can see in this graphite pencil drawing. At the other side it is called ‘Oosthaven’, where the entrance is of Museum Gouda. Especially foreigners will like the ancient atmosphere. They also happen to have a great collection of especially impressionists and The Barbizon movement too. For those who are curious why I visited Gouda that day when I saw this cloud, please click here.
