This graphite pencil drawing ‘Gent – 08-05-23’ shows a different scenery for a change.

This graphite pencil drawing ‘Castle ‘De Wittenburg’ – 14-03-23’ is a sound cry for Spring.
Sunday last October 17th my parents and I visised the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition of Albrecht Dürer art works and contemporaries. Crime scene: Suermondt-Ludwig Museum at Aachen, Germany.
Last Saturday I went to the Heineken Music Hall near the Johan Cruijff ArenA for my second vaccination shot. On the other side of the A2 there is Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, a village to the south of Amsterdam.
On my walks I came across Estate ‘Oosterbeek’ again. I was in the mood to do another landscape after my last one of Buitengoed Leeuwenbergh. After all, Spring has arrived and South Holland is covered in sunlight. Let’s hope the sun will bring relief in this cursed pandemic.
And it so happens my niece Lilian turned out to be a great photographer. Lo and behold, artistry runs deep in the veins of our family and I asked her to use a beautiful photo she took of a treeline in Puiflijk, near to where she lives.
As you may know I often wander about and astray through landscapes I have never been before or in this particular case I know all too well. Batenburg is not far away from Nijmegen, where I was born and raised and upon my word it is a quite pittoresque village along the river Maas.
On my extensive trips I sometimes come across specific spots of beauty and in this case not accidentally. I saw a great mansion ‘for sale’ at the Valkenlaagte and I am sure I cannot buy it on short notice.
Last year I was walking through sunny Voorschoten, a town in the north to where I live.
Last week I went to visit Museum Kranenburgh at Bergen, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
A couple of weeks back I was going to the Jongkind exhibition at the Dordrechtse Museum at Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands and I decided to go on a short detour across the city which I visit almost two decades ago for the last time.
A commissioned piece I did for someone who loved my roundism style. She likes to do holiday trips with their favorite car, a vintage Porsche Carrera.
Berlage’s kiosk (at The Hague) – 22-06-17 (sold)
I change from nudity to landscapes a lot and I find trees equally attractive.
Oss is a medium sized city in Noord-Bravant, Netherlands and I was in the local museum there (Jan Cunen) I had this view on Oss with the trees at the left of the drawing flowing into the clouds.
An impressionistic view on Leiden, where I studied. I am often fascinated my reflections in water and there are so many canals to be found over there. The movement of the water is what I put as a central theme in this drawing.
A cubistic / roundism kind of style of Schiedam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.
A depiction of my love for the return of the sun and life in nature, symbolized by spring blossom.
After my drawing of Rotterdam – Coolhaven I wanted to do Delftshaven – another part of the old harbour area of Rotterdam but in a slight cubistic way.
A rather impressionistic view on Coolhaven (part of the harbour of Rotterdam). I made this drawing inspired by a trip to Rotterdam when I passed by the Coolhaven and I lost a contact that day so I saw it quite blurry.
Sometimes it happens that you see faces in trees and water. Such was the case when I came to ‘t Meertje, a place near Ooij and Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands
An experiment with cubism / roundism applied to a site that’s familiar to me: The former protestant church at the Ooij, at Gelderland, Netherlands.
The straight lines of the church and the difference in mass between the planes and the those of the branches, inspired to make this piece.
I was lead by the cubist qualities of the Streets of Culemborg, a city in the centre of the Netherlands, in Gelderland.
Breaking up a forest into planes of light, darkness and cubistic forms. It’s called ‘The Valley of the Philisophers’ (Filosofendal) at Berg en Dal, near Nijmegen, Gelderland, Netherlands (Nederland).
An impressionistic view from royal estate ‘De Horsten’ near Voorschoten over the meadows towards The Hague.
A sketch I did of Rotterdam Overschie, at the river Schie.
A realistic pencil drawing that is with a private collector in the U.S. now.
An impressionistic view on the Halstraat, a small street in the centre of The Hague, Netherlands. I was fascinated by the blocked in light column showing lots of depth in front and back to the church in the background.
