Solarized Roundism – 16-06-23
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 16-06-23’ I started quite some time ago.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 16-06-23’ I started quite some time ago.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 02-03-23’ follows directly after one with the same name.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 24-02-23’ stems from the latest session with my regular model. Solarization is back on the menu and I simply loved to employ this technique again.
Blue Velvet is my next one after the more comprehensive work on Geesje Kwak. Time for an elaboration of a previous drawing Solarised Roundism – 01-07-22.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 01-07-22’ is a welcome change from oil painting. After the completion of ‘Geesje Kwak and the Secret of the Universe – 28-06-22’ it was time to return to sketching.
Finally, a new drawing and it is a new Solarized Roundism. The last solarized one I did was ‘Risque – 31-03-22’. Graphite pencil drawings do not come popping up weekly anymore since I put my mind to oil painting back in February. Occasionally one is fininished as a result of some spare time I have, waiting for my students at Brugman Art. So is this one.
A new oil painting based on my graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Geometry -26-11 21’. After the previous one ‘Rusalka, Free Floating in Russian Waters – 28-02-22’ I was in for something new. In fact, I always am and that mindset prevents me from repeating the same old same.
This graphite pencil drawing ‘Solarized Roundism – 26-11-21’ concerns a pose I had my model strike a couple of sessions ago. Strangely it takes me back a year ago when I experimented with solarization during the first lockdown in the Netherlands.

The next drawing in my solarized roundism series. It forms a transition from my previous abstracted cubist geometry towards a crossover to realism and surrealism. Like in previous ones I inverted some of the tonal values whereas in other parts they are kept realistic.
Some time ago on Instagram I saw a beautiful woman showing a seated position of herself. I asked her for permission to draw her and decided to employ only my solarization effects of late.
This is my third solarized drawing I did since a long time and represents my regular model I know for years.
In my last drawing ‘Roundism – 29-03-20’ I employed the technique of solarisation again. It turned out to be a rather realistic one and so I decided to do another one more abstract.
These times I miss my model and look forward to have her over to sit for me again
