Roundism – 11-01-20

Of late I was busy painting ‘The Restoration of Bettie Page’ and since a month or so drawings do not sprout from my pencil that often. But sometimes you have to let the painting be for a day and return to drawing process.

Model session – 31-12-19

Last day of the year and completed a work in progress I started during a live session with my regular model. With just two simple LED reading lamps I got the atmosphere right

Tristan & Isolde – 09-12-19

It so happened that I was instructing a knight on horseback to prance in front of me so I could do a live painting on him, then all of a sudden this beautiful maiden was ruling us both.

Model session – 23-11-19

Last Thursday 21th of November I had my regular model over again in my studio and it was a good session. I placed two led light sources next to her, creating a nice razor light over her body.

It was time to return to my roundism style and the position of this one inspired to me show the flow her hips suggest.

I am always looking for inconventional vantage points as to looking at a model and this position seemed both sensual and integrous as implicitely explicit.

Model sketching time again. My mind was occupied with many other projects but live model sketching always has priority. Whereas skecthing often is called the primary process, live model sketching I consider to be primus inter pares.
