Roundism – 11-02-18
Based on two previous artworks: a pastel called ‘Into the light – 15-06-17’ (impressionistic, surrealsitic) and a graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism – 04-07-17’. I liked both works and took the colour scheme of the pastel drawing in reds and greens but also used the roundism style of the pencil drawing and combine them.
Roundism – 02-02-18 (sold)
Based on a prestudy in pastel (Model – 01-12-18) I made this painting in oil. My objective was to stay in line with the fauvist colour kind of strokes (in case of the pastel they were pretty much ‘broken’ and ‘open’ strokes / patches) but also to get to a more abstract feel by means of rendering the model slighty cubistic.
Roundism – 06-12-17
I was intrigued by the compact forms of the model’s body and especially by the curve of her tibia tot he instep of her foot.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Roundism – 29-11-17)
Based on a earlier roundism graphite pencil drawing I made this pastel adding the realm of colours. I wanted the woman appear in a kind of midsummernight’s dream with lots of yellow and blues, girded with some purples and pinks.

A new graphite pencil drawing in the roundism series in which I experimented with deformations of body shapes with the purpose of keeping the forms as ‘open’ as possible, so all forms can breathe, flowing from one into another.
Model session 2 @ Rotterdam – 19-11-17
Short positions at live model sketching took me back to reinvent my way rendering human bodies and together with my new found Pastelmat by Clairefontaine I was able to experiment with new ways.
Nude – 01-10-17
A rather loose cubistic sketch done with colour pencils. For the 4th time in a row I used the same (indian) model. Her skin allows me to use a lot of yellow which I counterbalanced with edgy purple planes.
Roundism – 26-09-17
I am on track doing some new nudes with my favorite model of Indian descendance.
Mary Pickford – 13-09-17
This is the painting based on a previous drawing ‘Sans titre – 25-10-16’ depicting Mary Pickford, one of the first female leading ladies in movie history.
