Risque – 17-02-22

A new Risque oil painting in the Series by same name. After my last one I wanted to wander in a straight linear landscape again. The motif for this one was based on my colored pencil drawing ‘Risque – 01-22’.
The Meeting -15-02-22

This oil ‘The Meeting’ has a long story. Ages ago, before my cubist and roundistic revolution, I was more into landscapes and surrealism.
Roundism – 10-02-22

This roundism oil painting is quite different from the last roundistic one, called ‘Singularity – 23-12-21’. Whereas the latter was all about the use of shiny colors, the experiment at hand has another color range.
Singularity – 23-12-21

After my initial graphite pencil drawing ‘Roundism (Singularity) – 01-06-17’ I also made a pastel Roundism (Singularity) – 05-06-17. Basically it combines a formalistic point of view on artistic nudity with a deeper meaning or narrative. The latter is about the principles of singularity.
Risque – 13-12-21

Risque is the title of a new oil, in fact a new series. I felt this one was urgent and below I explain why. The lovely means by making my visual point is the depiction of model Julia Gómez Avilés. It was wonderful to work with her again
Geesje Kwak (2021)

After the success of my initial drawing I decided to dissect Geesje Kwak geometrically even further. Surely it is an ode to abstraction in Japanese art in the first place.
Mother Nature – 22-01-21

Mother Nature holds many secrets but let me sketch you the following. All of a sudden you spot a naked woman on her own in the middle of a forest. Would you be attracted to her or would you run away screaming?
Cubist Expressionism – 08-09-20

After careful considering I chose for a rendering with hatched strokes like I am used to in doing pastels and many a drawing, even though this is the first time in oil.
Frida Kahlo (2020)

A couple of years ago I came across a nude photo of Frida Kahlo. I guess she did a lot of experimenting in the roaring 1920s / 1930s. I was intrigued by her body position: reclining and amidst two cats, completely demanding the camera in a relaxed way though.
The Restoration of Bettie Page – 01-04-20
In November 2018 I started this project after a prestudy in graphite ‘An archeological memory of Bettie Page – 13-11-18’. Since the canvas size of this painting is bigger than the original drawing the balance between main theme (camel, statue and stele) and the negative space around it should show more coherence.
