Reclining Nude – 2021-09-19
This reclining nude is completed two days after the last model session I held at my studio. Being the first drawing I completed after July’s session means last month’s drawing has not been completed yet. This one was relatively easy though.
Geesje Kwak – 2021-09-04
My previous graphite pencil drawing ‘Geesje Kwak – 25-08-21’ was executed in my hatched strokes style and I kinda like it. Sometimes you just feel like doing this or that but in this particular case I understand better why.

After I drew the portrait of Geesje Kwak last month I discovered another picture taken by Breitner. It is slightly different and shows a bigger part of her body rather than her face only.
Binckhorst Nude – 2021-08-03
At the Binckhorst I met a model who posed nude for me and a student of mine. The live model sketch was in pastel and in fact I got the taste to do some more.
Model Session – 2021-07-28
Together with a student I had a lovely model session at the Binckhorst in The Hague. She invited me to come to her studio because she had a friend who wanted to sit for us. Actually the same sofa was used as for the previous model session.

Just on the brink of Christmas I thought I should make a roundism drawing looking rather risqué. It was a strange and hefty year for us all, I think.
On the Beach – 2020-12-11
Years ago I saved a vintage picture of a nude on the beach. Origin unknown and my best guess would be from the 1930s or 1940s. The picture was rather grainy and but it showed a great composition of a female body in slanted position.
Hommage to the Entombment of Christ by Caravaggio – 2020-12-05
In my classes I often use ‘The Entombment of Christ’ by Caravaggio to demonstrate how artists normally distribute space. Next to this, in my eyes a great artist is one who lets the composition reflect the idea the main theme has to to convey.
