The Birth of New Cubism
Cubistic nude (06) (2013)
Just like ‘Cubistic nude – 04 (2013)’ this one is featured in a daily dutch television soap although scaled down too small. I liked doing some strong stuff through a complementary mix purple / yellow.
Cubistic nude 05 (2013) (sold)
One I did as a commission. It’s a combination of straight planes and round forms putting the stress on the model’s movements.
Cubistic nude (04) (2013)
This one is featured in a daily dutch television soap although scaled down too small.
Cubistic nude (03) (2013)
A very mild cubistic approach to this one. I wanted to see if a realistic view could be combined with some abstraction.
Cubistic nude 02 (2013)
A study after movement and cubism. I was inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s ‘nu descendant l’escalier’. I like women swinging their hips.
Cubistic nude 01 (2013) (sold)
One of the early paintings in a distint different cubist style I was searching for. It was my first sales on Saatchiart and my type of cubism has developed into a variety I call ’roundism’.
Pastel study 03 (2013) (sold)
A study left ‘open’ quite a bit. I like it and going to do more like these one day.
Cubistic sitting nude (2013)
A cubist-like study done in a live session at Studio Brugman, Voorburg, Netherlands.
Romy Schneider (2013)
A cubistic prestudy for an oil painting, depicting moviestar and celebrity Romy Schneider.
Cubistic nude (02) (prestudy) (2013)
Prestudy for ‘Cubistic Nude 02 (2013)’ in pastel. The oil version has some more movement than this one.
Cubistic nude (01) (prestudy) (2013)
This is the prestudy for ‘Cubistic nude 01 (2013)’ on pastel. I used velours paper and Schmincke pastels so I could fill up planes easily and make a swift progression, keeping up with the ideas that I feared would be lost if I would set it up to slowly.
Cubistic woman (2011)
A mixture between expressionism, pointillism and cubism, done by strong complementary constrasts.
Cubistic woman (2010)
Probably the first cubistic painting I made. This one rather looks like stained glass than being cubistic, I think.
