Ode to the harpsichord – 14-04-17 (sold)
I was invited for a harpsichord concert at the home of one of my students.

Situated at Rotterdam, Delftshaven is the old harbour entree for the city of Delft, at the north of Rotterdam. I wanted to do a drawing full of atmosperic depth but still with a bit of cubist styling in it.
A commission for a classic portrait. The young girl, age 3, has beautiful green eyes (hence the title) and was very animated during the sessions, which is fun to watch but difficult to work with as an artist.
A portrait of my dad in roundistic forms. Always great to turn bushes and trees into round and abstract shapes.
This painting is a culmination of all drawing efforts as to the same model pose.
I change from nudity to landscapes a lot and I find trees equally attractive.
With her slender body Bettie Page always has been a great model to put my project ’roundism’ on wheels. There’s not a single curve in her body that doesn’t makes me go cubistic.
Another project of my roundism series.
An impressionistic view on Leiden, where I studied. I am often fascinated my reflections in water and there are so many canals to be found over there. The movement of the water is what I put as a central theme in this drawing.
Did this one for a Chinese collector who wanted to have a copy the same pastel from 2012 which he acquired as well. The Chinese are into realistic western art nowadays.
A work in which I combined colour saturation with complementary colour schemes.
I took my dear colleague Julia Filament to the Mauritshuis, where I placed her in front of ‘The Girl with the pearl earring’ by Vermeer and rendered her cubistically.
Roundism put into a complementary colour scheme. The hardest thing was to balance it all so the purple wouldn’t overwhealm the yellow.
One from the series ‘sans titre’ depicting moviestars. This one is a tribute to Mary Pickford in some kind of cubistic roundish style.
An experiment in coloration of roundish shapes, rendered with colour pencils only.
This one is based on the swimming pool full of optical illusions at Museum ‘Voorlinden’ at Wassenaar, The Netherlands.
The town of Vlaardingen (near Rotterdam) depicted in roundish forms. This is a view on the harbour in the center with the ‘Grote Kerk’ (‘Big Church’) at the background.
Another example of the roundism series, ever continuing. This one is the conclusion of a series of 15 drawings on the same theme.
A cubistic / roundism kind of style of Schiedam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.
In the dead of summer means I am in the midst of the outdoor sketching season. Although I did not complete this one on the spot the invention of the basic composition and planal distribution were done at Katendrecht, Rotterdam.
The town of Schiedam (near Rotterdam) depicted in roundish forms. This is a view on ‘De Kameel’ (The Camel) – a windmill (yellow bricks – hence the name) typical for Schiedam
One in the series I made of the Gemeentemuseum at The Hague, Zuid-Holland, Nederland. To honour Mondriaan I made it in a cubistic way.
Part of the bigger roundism series and reason why I got blocked by Facebook. It had serious issues with nude at that time. Since then its policy on nudity has changed after a couples of scandals that made the press.
Part of the roundism series. I like doing this one because of the flow of the reflections that I turned into a kind of water waves.
Part of the roundism series. This one is with a private collector in the United States.
In this piece from the roundism series I take a step further and mess about with form distortion The cuts in the body parts are more extreme than in previous drawings.
I liked the jumping quality of the model making a jump and tried to emphasize the round shapes – like the breasts and buttocks – popping out.
Part of the roundism series. This one is all about the central piece of the figure, communicating with the negative space around it.
I was visiting Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen at Rotterdam, Netherlands together with colleague artist Julia Filament, when she saw an artistic lamp hanging from the ceiling in front of her nose.
