Oil Paintings

Ilna (2012) (sold)
A commissionary piece for my dear colleague Humphrey Brugman, with some surrealistic elements added.

Chinese nude (2012) (sold)
I love those old colonial post cards of exotic nudes. This one is based on such a card but of course with the addition of extreme colours.

Cubistic woman (2011)
A mixture between expressionism, pointillism and cubism, done by strong complementary constrasts.

Loving the alien (2011) (sold)
Named after the same song by David Bowie. I made this piece as a protest against all organized religion.

Peggy (2011)
A live model that I painted at Studio Brugman, Voorburg, Netherlands. The purporse was to meet realism from an expressionistic starting point.

Mira (2010) (sold)
A commissionary piece for the parents of a little girl. I asked for some liberty because the girl wanted to have flowers in the painting, so to avoid being corny I put some surrealistic elements in it.

Cubistic woman (2010)
Probably the first cubistic painting I made. This one rather looks like stained glass than being cubistic, I think.

Wet dream (2009) (sold)
In 2009 my bathroom was finished and I was taking a bath. Due to lavender oil I dreamt away and saw a woman floating towards me.

papaya (2008) (sold)
A still life in which I tried to combine cubism and realism in such respect that the cubistic papaya would be looking realistic as well.

Elysian fields (2008)
A big surrealistic oil painting. Surrealism – with Salvador Dali as exceptional example – always has drawn my attention.

Love in vain (2008) (sold)
A commissionary piece for someone who loves the blues. Robert Johnson with his guitar walking from the departing train.

Maris (2008) (sold)
A painting I made for my exhibition in 2008 at museum ‘Marishuis’ at Heumen, Gelderland, Nederland.

Flames (2007)
A surreastic oil painting with an ashtray and flowers as cigars. I liked painting the texture of fire so I had to come up with a dark negative space to sett off the light sufficiently.

Grassy Knoll 1 (2007)
The original oil painting on which I based a much larger version. I was fantasizing what would have happened in the days before the assassination of president John F. Kennedy at the very spot (Dealy Plaza).

Grassy knoll 2 (2007) (sold)
A commissionary piece for someone you wanted a bigger version of the one I already painted.

Old and young pomegranate (2007) (sold)
One of the many oil paintings but few still lifes I made throughout the years.

Lust (2007) (sold)
Not a real surrealistic painting but almost ‘alternative realism’. A woman reading the newspapers. One used condom on the floor, half a bottle of wine with two empty glasses. One cup of coffee on bed.

Strelizia (2007)
In my ever struggle with still lifes I wanted to do a styled flower like a Strelizia and put it in a granate shell my grandfather retrieved from a German Flak position at Nijmegen during W.W. II and light it with a maclite mini torch from within the shell.

Secret of the 50s (2007)
A surrealistic piece on Al Zarqawi and a domestic scene on the face of the moon.

Sub rosa (2007) (sold)
Twice it came back to me because of the partner of the purchaser didn’t agree with the vibrator. The third time was a charm.

Hot tin roof (2005)
A study after sunlight hitting a still life with extreme backlight, with hints of impressionism.

Etude (2005)
A quick study. I liked doing something simple and I arranged the objects in a triangular position. With only some faint color usage. I guess I was learning the trade of oil painting still, seeing this one after all these years.

Scared tomatoes (2007)
A surrealistic still life because, after all, still lifes are very boring and very still in the first place.

Foetus (2004)
I love foreshortened positions and although the model is tucked in very tightly, through application of the golden ratio and positioning the model according it, the composition worked out fine.
